El Retiro is a traditional Andalucian country cottage, on the edge of the village of Llano Almendra, close to the picturesque hilltop town of Comares, and an hour’s drive from Malaga city and airport.
Accommodation for families and groups
This self-catering property sleeps five comfortably. Larger family groups may be accommodated, by arrangement, using bunk beds in the old kitchen (a separate building a few steps from the house) and/or a sofa-bed in the living room.
This is an ideal spot for family holidays and would suit anyone who enjoys walking or cycling.
Beaches, places of interest & more
There are many places of interest within easy reach including Granada, Cordoba, Malaga, Antequera, ‘El Torcal’ natural park, and the Mediterranean beaches stretching eastwards from Malaga to Nerja, with its spectacular natural caverns.
Holiday home with pool
Guests may be equally happy staying closer to home, enjoying the pool, sun terraces, citrus grove, river- bed (generally dry enough to walk along), substantial library of novels and DVDs, and the more than thirty species of bird that have been spotted from the house.
Bedrooms, kitchen, bathroom, sun terrace
The property comprises a large and well-equipped kitchen (gas hob, electric oven, fridge, freezer, microwave, etc) with breakfast room adjacent; a large living room (cool in summer, but with a wood- burning stove for winter evenings) and a ground-floor bathroom / utility room, with bath/shower, washing machine, iron, and hair drier.
(The bathroom can be accessed from the terrace as well as the living room, ideal for post-dip showers.)
On the upper floor there is one single bedroom to the right of the stairs and two inter-connecting doubles to the left, the further one also reachable independently via an external staircase leading to a sun terrace and French doors.
Pick your own citrus fruits
Guests are most welcome to pick citrus fruits (oranges, mandarins and lemons) for breakfast juice and sundowners from the grove below the house.
